GIA Report Number
Unique GIA report number registered in the GIA global database.
Laser Inscription Registry
At your request a diamond may be micro-laser inscribed with its unique GIA Report number
Shape and Cutting Style
Description of the outline of the diamond (shape) and the pattern of the facet arrangement (cutting style).
Measurement
Dimensions of the diamond listed as "minimum diameter - maximum diameter x depth" for round diamonds, and "length x width x depth" for fancy shapes.
Carat Weight
The weight of the diamond is given in carats. One carat is equal to 1/5 of a gram. The weight is rounded to the nearest hundredth of a carat.
Color Grade
Assesses the absence of color, from colorless to light yellow or brown, when compared to GIA Color Comparison Master Diamonds and the grade given is based on the GIA Color Grade Scale.
Clarity Grade
Assesses the relative absence of inclusions (internal characteristics) and blemishes (external characteristics). Clarity is graded on a relative scale from Flawless to Included based on the size, number, position, and quantity of Clarity characteristics visible under 10 X magnification.
Cut Grade
Assesses the quality of a round brilliant cut diamond that falls within the GIA D-to-Z color range and the Flawless to I3 clarity range. Cut qualities incorporate the qualities of face-up appearance, design and craftsmanship. A cut grade is available on round diamonds graded after Jan. 1, 2006. GIA cut grades are Excellent, Very Good , Good, Fair, and Poor.
Finish
Finish grades represent the quality of a diamond's polish or surface condition and the size, shape, and placement of the facets, including the evenness of the outline or symmetry.
Polish
Rates the overall smoothness of a diamond's surface. GIA grades for polish are Excellent (Ex), Very Good (VG), Good (G), Fair (F), and Poor (P).
Symmetry

AGS Diamond Quality Document
The Diamond Quality Document (DQD) provides a complete grading analysis of Color, Clarity, Carat Weight, and Cut. Included in the Cut Grade is information about proportions, polish, and symmetry. AGS nomenclature is used for Cut, Color, and Clarity.

Shape and Cutting Style
The shape and style of cutting are noted.
Lists the millimeter measurements and the proportion information for each diamond. Round Brilliant millimeter measurements are expressed as "minimum diameter - maximum diamater x depth". All other shapes are always expressed "length - top to bottom x width - left to right x depth". Length is usually the largest measurement, but some shapes are wider than tall.
Both round brilliant and fancy-shaped diamonds are graded for cut. The AGS Cut Scale has 11 grades - 0 through 10, with 0 being the rarest and most desirable, and 10 the least desirable. In assigning a Cut Grade, the following factors are considered: Light Performance, Proportions Factors, and Finish. AGS Finish grades for polish and symmetry are Ideal (ID), Excellent (EX), Very Good (VG), Good (G), Fair (F), and Poor (P).
- 0 Ideal
- 1 Excellent
- 2 Very Good
- 3-4 Good
- 5-7 Fair
- 8-10 Poor
The AGS Color Grading System has 21 numerical grades for color on a 0 to 10 scale, with 0 being colorless and 10 having the most color. Because the GIA D to Z Scale is more commonly used, all AGS Diamond reports show the equivalent GIA Color Grade.
This scale ranges from 0 to 10, 0 being the rarest and most desirable and 10 the least desirable. An AGS Grade of 0, with no comments about the finish of the diamond in the Comments section of the document, is equivalent to the GIA Grade of Flawless. An AGS Grade of 0 with comment(s) referring to the finish or surface characteristics is equivalent to the GIA Grade of Internally Flawless.
The diamond is weighed to the third decimal place.
This area includes Clarity characteristics that are not plotted, laser drilling, surface or finish comments, the strength and color. Diamond fluorescence is reported as Negligible, Medium, Strong, or Very Strong. Negligible replaced inert and faint effective January 1, 2003. The color of the fluorescent is only noted at strengths medium and greater.
The shape and weight are repeated in this section for reference purposes only. This side view of a Round Brilliant diamond is where all of the proportion information for each diamond is printed. The 100% figure represents the average diameter of a round stone and width of a fancy shape. At a glance, the table %, crown height %, crown angle, girdle condition, minimum and maximum girdle thickness %, pavillion depth %. pavillion angle, culet size, culet condition (abraded or chipped), and total depth % are displayed in this section of the Diamond Quality Document.
The plot is a graphic representation of the internal clarity characteristics.

AGS Diamond Consultation
The Diamond Consultation (DC) is a report for diamonds weighing 4.99 carats or less. It provides shape, millimeter measurements, weight, clarity, color, and basic plot information about the diamond.
Basic Plot
Shows as much information as necessary to conclusively identify the diamond. The Diamond Consultation does not list the proportions, polish, or symmetry information.
Shape
Describes the diamond shape and cutting style.
Weight
Diamond weight is measured to the third decimal place.
Clarity
Reports the Clarity grade. This scale ranges from 0 to 10, with 0 being the rarest and most desirable and 10 the least desirable. An AGS Grade of 0, with no comments about the finish of the diamond in the Comments section of the document, is equivalent to the GIA Grade of Flawless.
Color
Reports the Color grade. The AGS Color Grading System has 21 numerical grades for color on a 0 to 10 scale, with 0 being colorless and 10 having the most color. Because the GIA D to Z Scale is more commonly used, all AGS Diamond reports show the equivalent GIA Color Grade.
Measurements
Lists the diamond's dimensions as a numerical value expressed in millimeters.
Comments
Lists any additional comments.
